Daddy was reading Danny the Christmas story…”Jesus was born in a stable, it was pretty cold and there were sheep and goats and cows and a donkey all there with him. It was very different than the warm room and cozy bed that you sleep in.” Danny’s face was all aglow…”Oh, I would like that.” Daddy, “Even with a stinky cow sleeping right next to you?” Danny nodding enthusiastically, “Oh yes, Daddy, that would be so nice.” Kinda hard for a animal-loving two year old to grasp exactly what Mary & Joseph went through.
Here are some pics of the kids at the park Christmas afternoon. Jesus gave us a beautiful sunny day to celebrate His birthday.
We took the kids to a live nativity scene tonight at a nearby church. Danny really enjoyed it, Carly didn’t like the fact that it was dark or cold outside but cheered up when she got to pet the baby goat. Afterwards Danny, Rina (Kaylee’s friend) & Kaylee all wanted to sit in the stable with baby Jesus.
A dear friend (thanks, Michelle) drew this farm for Danny. Every time he used the potty he got to put up a new farm animal sticker. He used it for several weeks and really enjoyed it.
This was the first year that Danny reallly got into Halloween and even wanted to dress up. He was Bob the Builder and in true 2 year old form his motto was, “Can we fix it? NO WE CAN”T!” - which he chanted for days around the house. We took him trick or treating for the first time and he loved it, he would stand at the door and say, “Trick or treat” but then didn’t understand that you are supposed to stay outside the door, I guess he’s never gone to a house and had to stand outside in the cold before, so really it does make sense. So our visits went something like this…”Trick or treat, hey can I come in?” (Danny doesn’t wait for an answer but steps inside and starts to look around their house) “Hey you have a lot of candy and a really nice dog, what are you making for dinner?”. Thankfully most people have extra grace for 2 &1/2 year old Bob the Builders.
