The kids enjoyed their first boat ride this last weekend around the Ensenada bay.

Kids celebrating with hot dogs and ABC fries.

This picture is of Danny’s two current favorite things: Superman PJs and Jason’s hamsters. He would live in these PJs if he could.

One of my favorite times of the day is reading with the kids. It seems like everything slows down while we’re reading and we can enjoy the story and I can have a peek into their amazing minds and how they see the world, what they wonder about and what makes them laugh.
I got to attend the CHEA (Christian Home Educators Association) convention recently and enjoyed a class by Rea Berg titled, ” Classic Literature for Little Folks”. I always love getting recommendations from other moms on good books. Here are some of hers;
History Series by Ingri & Edgar Parin d’ Aulaire - early 1900s
Horse Stories (based on true events) by Marguerite Henery
Obediah Series by Brinton Turkle - these books use old English but they are very simple and teach good morals - it’s neat to read about the author and is goals in writing for kids. (I got a few of these for my kids and they have enjoyed them)

I was reading a Child’s Book of Poems today with Danny and after we read this one,
Be like the bird, who
Halting in his flight
On limb too slight
Feels it give way beneath him,
Yet sings,
Knowing he hath wings - Victor Hugo
I asked him what it meant and he said, “The birdie isn’t scared because he can fly and did you know Mom that I can fly too so I’m not scared of anything.”
Ah, you just wish they could stay little forever.
When I get time I want to write up a list of some of the books we’ve enjoyed so far in case your kids will enjoy them too.

We were in the car praying for our trip and Danny & Carly, as usual, both said they wanted a turn to pray…
Carly: Jesus, please bless all the little babies and help them not to be hungry, Amen.
Danny: Jesus, please keep us safe on our trip and help us not to have any accidents. Especially ones where a huge rock flies through the windshield and smashes it and then we hit a big pothole and get a flat tire or our engine burns out, Amen.
