“Nobody bother me, I’m thinking about Daddy.”

Christie: Dan where do you get your energy from?
Dan: Oh, I drank coffee once.
Sea World has a lot of great shows but hands down the kids favorite is “The Pet Show”. Dogs, cats, birds, ducks and even a pig compete and perform these amazing tricks. Then after the show the kids can come down to the stage and meet the animals and pet them.
The last 2 times we watched this show Danny and Carly were the very last kids left petting the animals and the trainers were so patient answering their questions and even listening to the stories of “the tricks our dogs can do”.
Afterward I overheard Danny telling one of his friends, “I stayed really late because the animals were really fun and also the trainer was so beautiful.”
In this picture Danny’s telling them about his 2 dogs at home.
We’re all very excited about Kenji & Angel’s upcoming marriage (wedding will be next year). I’ve been surprised how interested Danny is and how many ideas and questions he’s had regarding it.
“So do you guys think I can wear one of those really handsome suits (tuxedos) or do I have to wear a bear costume? (He’s going to be the ringbearer) Cuz I think I’d look so much better in one of those black suits. You know, Kenji should really wear one too if he wants to look handsome. But Jer, you see, Jer could just wear a different color suit so people don’t mix them up. Wouldn’t it be funny if Angel accidently married Jer instead of Kenji, then she would be, like, Jer what are you doing in my apartment?”
On another topic he was worried that he’s a bit smaller than his friend Emmer who’s one month younger.
“Mom, are you sure I’m older than Emmer because he’s bigger than me?”
“Yes, honey, look at Dad, he’s smaller than Kenji & Jer but he’s older.”
“Yeah Mom, but Dad is so much stronger than them, he could just pick them up.”
During one of our many border crossings…
Mom to Dad: Just think, going to heaven is a trip we won’t have to pack or make any preparations for.
Danny: We won’t even pack some clothes?
Mom: No, not even clothes, when we get there Jesus is going to give us new heavenly clothes.
Danny: That’s embarrassing. Are you sure we won’t even bring one set of clothes?
Mom: No, we won’t have to bring anything.
Danny: That’s really embarrassing.
Danny was sitting in the back seat of the car deep in thot with a big smile on his face. When Paula asked him what he was thinking about he said, “You know what’s so funny? Jesus was watching over Mary & Joseph when they were babies.”
Now that’s a thot!
While cleaning the house Carly followed me around room to room to get help with multiple Polly Pocket dress changes. She finally settled on the pink ball gown. Trying to feign motherly interest in her game I asked her if her doll was going to a party. “No, Mommy, she’s going to Bethlehem in a carriage with Prince Charming and when she gets there she’s going to have baby Jesus.”

Thanks for passing it on Timna. |
Danny loves to talk while we’re on long car rides. This is a jewel from one of our conversations today..
“It must have been hard for Edison to make a lightbulb while he was working the dark.”
You know, I never thot of that.
This was our second year at Oma’s Pumpkin Patch at the Van Ommering Dairy Farm. www.omaspumpkinpatch.com
If you live in San Diego and you haven’t been, well you really should go. The kids enjoyed it even more this year and it was neat for me to be able to compare all the things they can do this year that they couldn’t last year, or see how much better they can do them.
They love teaming up with all the kids in the huge hay maze for games of hide & seek. Carly can slide down the cotton seed hill this year in a sled and Danny goes down standing up like a snow board. They are very aware of and excited about celebrating holidays and are looking forward to carving a pumpkin with Grandpa tomorrow. We visited Mike & Nina, who had huge spiders decorating the the outside of their house. Danny said, “Stand back Mom, let me check these out. It’s okay, they are huge black widows but they’re fake so it’s safe for you and Carly to come close.” Phew!
I found this adorable book today, The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs. Evidently she has a whole series. It’s a beautiful, parable, brings the Bible into the pumpkin tradition and I have to get more of them.
Careful deliberation over their choice of pumpkin.
